Lot 95: Vintage Ungaro Pendant

Emmanuel Ungaro was a French fashion designer who launched his career under the legendary houses of Cristóbal Balenciaga and André Courrèges, gaining experience in haute couture.


In 1965, at the age of 32, he established his own haute couture Maison Emanuel Ungaro. Described by Elle as couture with a twist, Ungaro's designs boldly departed from the conventional elegance of traditional formalwear.



He rejected typical evening gowns, believing that contemporary trends called for styles that were younger, cooler, and featured much higher hemlines. "I am a man of this age and I will design for women of this age," he said. The most influential era of Emmanuel Ungaro was during the 1970s and 1980s.
