Hanae Mori Clips
Hanae Mori Clips
Zha, zha, zhu! Carrie Bradshaw defined it as a butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling when you meet someone special. So when we found those clips by Hanae Mori, we felt zha, zha, zhu.
Butterfly was an iconic symbol for the fashion house of Japanese designer Hanae Mori. Her butterflies were on dresses, scarves, tunics, perfumes, and jewelry. Here is Grace Kelly wearing a tunic with one of those butterflies:
Hanae Mori was the first Asian designer invited to the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture. She started her fashion house in Japan in 1951 and, by 1965, became the first Japanese designer to show in New York. Her clothes were worn by Grace Kelly, Nancy Reagan, and Bianca Jagger. When we talk about Japanese fashion, we always mention Kenzo or Miyake, but Hanae was the first one:
“When Kenzo, Kansai Yamamoto, and Issey Miyake were all students of design, they used to visit me frequently at my studio,” Mori said in a 1982 interview.
She closed her house in 2004.
Good vintage condition. The item was missing two stones and they were replaced.
