Dominique Aurientis Adjustable Bracelet
Please welcome the star of our collection — the bracelet by very rare and precious designer Dominique Aurientis. Mixture of silver and gold metals. Bold, bold, bold.
Good vintage condition. There are slight marks of use.
Dominique Aurientis is a French designer. Dominique had worked for Christian Dior, Chanel, Lanvin, Celine, and Ferragamo before she opened her brand in 1986. And surprisingly, it wasn't Paris, but her hometown Aix-en-Provence. Once she said: "If a style is popular in Provence, it will sell in Paris."
Her jewelry was called dramatic. Always prominent and notable, with stones, gold-washed metals, pearls, and a mixture of different materials. She became one of the most famous jewelry designers in the United States. Irving Penn photographed her earrings for Vogue, 1989:
We were blown away by the description of her look: "She has been known to wear huge elephant-head earrings, half a dozen lapel pins, bracelets covering both arms, and gold charms dangling from a silk scarf — all at the same time, of course."
And here are two of Dominique's recommendations from 1989:
1. "When the jewelry is strong, the clothing can be quiet — a black turtleneck, a white shirt."
2. "Always wear two cuffs, though they need not match. Never wear bold earrings with a matching bold necklace — it is too much. Instead, wear a necklace that harmonizes but doesn't compete."
